First off we want to thank everyone who was able to join us on November 15th as we kicked off our 2018-2019 season! It was such a pleasure for us to work with artists who are making some of today’s most urgent music, and we were honored to share that music with so many of you. We spend this time of the year thinking about all of the things for which we are thankful. This year we are very thankful for our collaborators, who are making work that we feel is vital, necessary, and beautiful, and to all of you supporting us as we launch into our ninth season.
This season will be the most ambitious in our organization’s history. We are stepping up our game with daring collaborations, expanding our artistic reach with a new season in NYC, and increasing our work’s impact with the release of two new recordings. This spring, we are collaborating with a number of Iranian composers in an expansive new production called Hyphen. These composers live in Iran, Europe and the US and are collaborating with us to create new works that showcase both the unique eccentricities of and the universalities that transcend generations and geographies. In conjunction with our San Francisco season, we’re launching our inaugural season in New York. Ranging from recital programs like American Music and Humble Servant to immersive productions like Lordship & Bondage: the Birth of the Negro Superman (presented at the Met Cloisters), the new season helps cement The Living Earth Show’s position as one of the most vibrant chamber music organizations in the country, providing more reach and impact to the productions it built here in San Francisco. Lastly, we are in the final stages of finishing two recordings: Echoes, an album that features Kronos Quartet and the poets of Youth Speaks, and a double album with COMMANDO, a rap/rock collective that serves as a launchpad for LGBTQ artists.
We understand that these are fearless, bold, empowering initiatives that we want to bring to life this season. But they cannot happen without you. Your support will be critical in helping us to make this a successful season. Our goal is to raise $10,000 in support of the season by December 31. Can you help us get there? A gift of $250, $125, $75 or any amount goes a long way to helping us. You can also double your gift by having your company match (if available) or increase the size of your gift by making a monthly contribution.
